About ChordSonic

ChordSonic turns a recording into something you can play. Upload a song and get its chords, key and tempo; split it into stems; turn a part into MIDI; or make a backing track to practise over. It runs in the browser — nothing to install.

What you can do with it

  • Find the chords of a song

Upload an audio file and get the chord progression on a timeline that plays in sync, with the key and the tempo. Transpose it, and export it as TXT, CSV or JSON.

    Upload a song
  • Split a song into stems

Pull out the vocals, drums, bass and other parts — for a karaoke track, an acapella, or a backing track with your own instrument muted.

    Stem splitter
  • Turn a part into MIDI

Convert a melody, bass line or solo into editable notes on a piano-roll, then take the MIDI file into your DAW.

    Audio to MIDI
  • Make a backing track

Describe the track you want to play over — style, instruments, mood, key and tempo — and get audio back to practise or perform with.

    Track generator
  • Learn and write with free theory tools

Hear any chord, build progressions, explore the circle of fifths and scales, and check a tempo by tapping — no upload, no signup.

Who it's for

Guitarists, pianists, ukulele and bass players learning songs by ear. Singers who need an instrumental or the key of a track. Cover bands and teachers preparing charts. Producers and DJs who want the tempo, the key or a clean stem. If you play music and want to get from a recording to playing along faster, it's for you.

You can start for free without an account. Paid plans raise the limits and unlock the heavier features — see pricing.

Who makes it

ChordSonic is built and run by one independent developer. There is no big team behind it: the same person builds the features, runs the service, answers the email and reads every piece of feedback — so what users ask for has a short path into the product.
