Note transcription works best on one instrument at a time, and bass is close to the ideal case: one note at a time, in a register nothing else is competing for. Isolating it first and transcribing second is a genuinely different result from pointing a converter at a full mix — fewer phantom notes, cleaner note lengths.
After separation, the To MIDI button on the bass row carries the stem over to the audio-to-MIDI converter, which lays every note out on a piano-roll and exports a standard .mid file — ready to re-voice with a synth bass, quantise, or print as notation.

How do I isolate the bass from a song?
Upload the track and leave the selection as it comes — bass only. ChordSonic's pipeline separates the low end from the kick drum and the rest of the arrangement, and the download you get is the bass part alone rather than a low-pass filter of the whole mix.
Is this different from just cutting the highs with EQ?
Completely. An EQ low-pass keeps everything that happens to be low — the kick, the floor tom, the bottom of a piano chord — and simply makes the rest quieter. Separation decides what each sound belongs to, so the kick can be pulled away from the bass note even though they occupy the same octave.
Will the isolated bass be clean enough to work out the notes?
For most produced music, yes — the line is exposed enough to hear passing notes, slides and ghost notes that vanish under a full mix. Bass buried beneath a heavily distorted guitar or recorded live in one room is the hard case, and results there are less tidy.
Can I turn the bass line into MIDI notes?
Yes, and it is the reason many people isolate bass in the first place. Press To MIDI on the bass row after separation and the stem is carried over to the audio-to-MIDI converter, which places every note on a piano-roll and exports a .mid file for your DAW. A single monophonic line like bass is about the friendliest thing you can hand a transcriber.
How do I slow the line down to learn it?
Press To Chords on the bass row instead. The stem opens in the full ChordSonic player, where you can drop playback to half speed without the pitch sagging, and loop back over the bar that keeps catching you out.
