Two things worth checking first.
The key. Your track comes back in the key the record was made in, and plenty of famous songs live in a range built for one particular voice. Running the same file through ChordSonic tells you what key it is in, so you find out at home rather than three lines into the first chorus.

How do I make a karaoke version of a song?
Upload the recording you want to sing to and press Separate. A couple of minutes later you can download the same arrangement with the lead vocal taken out of it, as an ordinary MP3 you can play from a phone, a laptop or a USB stick.
Is this the same as a lyrics remover?
For the audio, yes. A lyrics remover and a karaoke maker do the same job from opposite ends: the words live inside the vocal, so taking the vocal out takes the lyrics with it and leaves the band playing. The difference is what you do next — a karaoke track is that instrumental, made for someone to sing the words back over it.
Do the lyrics appear on screen?
No — this makes the audio, not the words. There is no scrolling lyric video and no subtitle file. Most people pair the download with a printed lyric sheet or a lyrics site open on a second screen, which is also less brittle than a video when someone asks for the next verse twice.
Can I sing it in a different key if the original is too high?
Not from this page — the track comes back in the same key and at the same tempo as the recording you uploaded. If the top notes are out of reach it is worth checking what the song's key actually is before you commit to it in front of people: ChordSonic reads the key off any upload, so you will know whether you need a different song or a different arrangement.
Do the backing vocals disappear too?
Yes, and that is worth knowing before the night. Lead and backing voices are treated as one part, so harmonies, doubled choruses and gang vocals leave with the lead. On songs where the chorus is carried by stacked voices, the result can feel emptier than the version in your head.
Will it sound good enough for a party?
For most studio recordings, yes — through a speaker, in a room with people talking, it holds up perfectly well. What you are listening for is a faint ghost of the original singer on long held notes and heavy reverb tails. Sparse ballads expose that more than a dense, loud arrangement does.
Do I need an account or an app?
